Yep, I made a little (BIG) typo ; it should read : http://www.e-cigaret.com . Not quite English, not quite Dutch, so its a mistake I’ve made before I must admit…..
Personally, I am not too worried of the fact that maybe only the zero-nicotine cartridges would be available. After all, it’s a smoking replacement, NOT a cessation therapy (in my view), and if you smoke AND e-smoke, it really makes no difference at all (for taste or feeling in the throat). It takes quite a while befor nicotine-deprivation becomes noticable.
For people who would like to QUIT (real) smoking, and decrease their nicotine-craving by means of the E-cig, it could be a bummer though. And although the ‘cold turky’ method on nicotine-deprivation takes no more than two weeks at most, it is the HABIT that is so hard to kick, so it could still be used as an aid, maybe combined with other nicotine-replacements.
Still I think it actually is a shame that -as things look now- we are going to be deprived of what could be a great solution for both smokers AND non-smokers. Government is clearly worried about tax-income, the tobacco-industrie is worried for obvious reasons, and non-smoking organisations have always been hard to reason with. Gives you a worrying David and Goliath-feeling….
Momentarily we are eagerly awaiting the results of a large, independent reearch about the effects and dangers of electric smoking. There is particularly a New Zealand-report we are following, which looks very promising. It can be found on http://www.theruyanmedia.com/uploads/REC-NZInterim_Report.pdf
In the meantime, we can just wait, hope and e-smoke as much as we can, and maybe try pulling a few little strings here and there. Our only hope is that by the time our regulators have made a decission, E-smoking is SO widespread, and so accepted in public opinion, that a law against it is going to be very hard and very expensive to maintain.
